Tom Winegar's Obituary
Eugene Thomas “Tom” Winegar, age 78, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Mercy Hospital. He was born May 21, 1938, in Muskegon to Menlo Keith “Shorty” and Elizabeth (Workman) Winegar, and he married Dorothy May Frazier on August 30, 1958 at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Haven.
Tom worked at JR Automation as a journeyman tool and die maker, until his retirement in 1999. He loved spending time at his cottage on Ford Lake, sun worshipping, loon watching, cruising on his pontoon boat, trap shooting, and watching the Detroit Tigers. Tom was a member of the North Ottawa Rod & Gun Club, Ducks Unlimited, and the National Rifle Association. Most of all Tom loved spending time with his family, especially devoting time to his grandchildren.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Winegar of Spring Lake, daughter, Christine “Chris” Westhoff of Spring Lake; three sons: Tom (Deanna) Winegar of Grand Haven, David Winegar and Troy Winegar both of Spring Lake; three grandchildren: Samuel Westhoff, Sarah Westhoff, and Alexandra Winegar. He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Winegar.
A memorial service for Tom will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017, at the Spring Lake Country Club, with Rev. Daniel Anderson officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
