Tonya Lynn Abbey's Obituary
Tonya Lynn Abbey, age 36, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at her home in Muskegon, Michigan. Tonya was the most gentle, kind, and loving spirit in her short life here on this earth, beloved by all who knew her. She enjoyed spending time at the beach, reading, watching sunsets, and being outdoors. Her genuine, warm love for her family, friends, and especially her dogs – Marley and Maggie - shined through Tonya. She will be remembered for her bubbly sense of humor, her empathy for others, and her engaging smile. Her spirit will live on in all who knew and loved Tonya.
She was born in Garden City, Michigan on March 9, 1985 to Eric and Rosemary (Rosamond) Wensko. Tonya graduated from Wayne Memorial High School, class of 2003, and was currently working towards her associate degree at Muskegon Community College.
On September 3, 2016, Tonya married Richard “Scott” Abbey, in a heartfelt but whimsical tie-dye themed wedding on the beach of Muskegon Lake, surrounded by family and friends. The celebrations that day, only a little more than 5 years ago, embodied much what Tonya loved: sunshine on the beach, her loving family and friends, a few shenanigans, bright colorful wedding attire, and a whole lot of fun! Their affection for each other was apparent in their pet names for each other; Tonya was Scott’s “Baby”, and Scott was “My Animal”. And many who knew and loved Tonya called her a “Saint”! She is surely flying high in the heavens.
She will be so very missed by her loving husband, Scott Abbey; mother, Rosemary (Scott) Micklewright; father, Eric Wensko; step-mother, Lisa Bryant; parents-in-law, Susan (Tom) Abbey-Ludwig and Richard (Patricia) Abbey; sisters, Ahlea, Rebecca, Megan, Jennifer, Lucia, Jennifer Bryant; brothers, Daniel, David, John, Jonathon, Lorin; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Andrew) Brault; her beloved dog, Maggie; and many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Ricky Frescura; her Grandma and Grandpa Rosamond and Grandpa and Grandma Northcutt; and her beloved dog, Marley.
Her MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 4:00 PM Saturday, January 15, 2022 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. VISITATION will be from 2-4 PM Saturday, January 15, 2022 at The Lee Chapel. Due to COVID concerns, Tonya’s family requests that you please wear a mask.
