Twila Serene Foster's Obituary
Twila Serene Foster, age 91, passed away on April 23, 2025. Twila was born to Royden and Cecelia May (Mills) Rinard on September 30, 1933, in Mesick, Michigan. In September 1974, Twila married William Foster, who preceded her in death in 2001. Twila worked as a cashier at Steketee’s and Yankee-Zody’s department stores during her career. After retiring, Twila volunteered as a senior transportation driver for the American Red Cross for nearly twenty years. Twila enjoyed spending time with her family, especially if it involved camping and sitting around the bonfire.
Twila will be missed by her children, Patricia (Gary) Garn, Gail (Ted) Pastoor, Lester (Kathy) Scarbrough; step-children, Rick (Shelby) Foster, Mary Foster, and Kathy Foster; grandchildren, Roy (Kimberly) Garn, Rachel Richards, Abe (Kerri) Pastoor, Amy (Kyle) Sautter, Sean (Jael) Scarbrough, Troy (Megan) Scarbrough, Jamie (Eric) Lieber, Jill (Adam) Balogh, and Korie (Travis) Prost; sister-in-law Gloria Foster; many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, step-great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Twila is preceded in death by her husband, William Foster; siblings, Ardeth Cheseboro, Gwendelyn Rinard, George Rinard, Gordon Rinard, and Jim Rinard; brothers-in-law, Charlie Foster and Joe Foster; and step-son, Roger Foster.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Twila’s honor to The American Red Cross, The American Cancer Society, or The Alzheimer’s Association.
