Valerie M. Sweet's Obituary
Mrs. Valerie M. “Val” Sweet, age 48, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2005 in Muskegon. She was born July 14, 1956 in Muskegon to Earl and Ethel (Idsinga) Erickson and lived her entire life in the area. On June 2, 1989, she married Patrick W. “Boogie” Sweet in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on January 19, 2002. Prior to retirement in 1999, Val worked 25 years as a phlebotomist at Hackley Hospital. She attended Calvary Church of Fruitport. SURVIVORS include 2 brothers, Richard (Shar) Johnson of Lansing, Dan (Connie) Johnson of Fruitport; 1 sister, Beverly (Ed) Paris of Texas; her in-laws, Richard and Deloris “Pat” Sweet of Muskegon; 3 step-children, Eric Sweet of Clio, MI, Andrea (Jason) Wiesing of Millington, MI, Autumn Sweet of Clio, MI; 4 step-grandchildren; 2 brothers-in-law, Ronald (Jan) Sweet, Neil Sweet of Muskegon; 1 sister-in-law, Dena (Roland Berger) Sweet of Muskegon; special friends, Debbie Taylor and Anna Smutz; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her half-sister, Carol, who died just one day earlier. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at the Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210, with Pastor Eric Strattan officiating. VISITATION with Val’s family will be 6-8 PM Tuesday and 12-1 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Camp Bluebird of Grand Haven or Hackley Visiting Nurse-Hospice.
