Valerie Rose Darien's Obituary
Mrs. Valerie Rose Darien, age 95, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010 in Westmont, IL. Valerie was born in Chicago on August 15, 1914 to Anton and Julia (Plutzer) Blaho. She married Mr. Nicholas M. Darien in Chicago on June 27, 1936 and shortly thereafter made their home in Muskegon Heights where Valerie was a homemaker, worked as a nurse’s aide at Mercy Hospital for 8 ½ years and cooked for the Dominican Nuns at Sacred Heart Parish for more than 7 years. She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Senior Citizens Group, Grandmothers Club, Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court #599, Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and the Hungarian Sacred Heart Society. Valerie was preceded in death by her husband Nicholas in 1971. She is survived by: two daughters, Valerie Kettell of Steger, IL and Margaret (Michael) Fraser of White Cloud, MI; son, Nicholas (Cheryl) Darien of Darien IL; brother, Eugene (Lillian) Blaho of Dyer, IN; 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Richard Kettell; three brothers and two sisters. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1:30 P.M., Monday, August 16, 2010, Fr. Thomas J. Brown presiding. Visitation: One hour prior to the Mass. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions to: Adventist St. Thomas Hospice, 119 E. Ogden Ave., Hinsdale, IL 60521 will be appreciated.
