Vance Crane's Obituary
Mr. Vance Crane, age 86, passed away Monday, December 3, 2012 at his home. He was born March 8, 1926 in Muskegon to Vance and Marie (Lasser) Crane, Sr. He was a 1944 graduate of Muskegon Hts. High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was employed as a supervisor at Sealed Power Corp. for 30 years until retiring in 1984. Vance was also a volunteer Fireman for Fruitport Twp. for 25 years. He was a member of Vikings Linne’ Lodge #57, American Legion #9 and was past president and Golden Eagle at both Muskegon Hts. Aerie 2106 and Fruitport Aerie 3666. He was also an avid hunter and bowler. He married the former Shirlie E. Musk in Muskegon on September 13, 1947 and she survives him along with their children, Dennis (Candy) Crane, Susan (Michael) Votsch and Dean (Doris) Crane; 1 brother, David (Helen) Crane of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Brian (Barb) Crane, Michael (Nicki) Crane, Mandy (Logan) Anderson, John (Stephanie) Votsch, John Votsch, Amanda Coon, Tracy (James) Cox and Joseph Lopez; great-grandchildren, Madison Crane, Jillian Crane, Cole Votsch, Madison Newell, Aaron Cox and Hayley Lopez. He was preceded in death by a son, Darryl Crane; grandson, Darrin Crane; 2 brothers, Jerry & Delore Crane; and 1 sister, Donna Crane. The MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100, Rev. Phillip Cappelleri officiating, with military rites under the auspices of American Legion Post #9. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service. Vance will be laid to rest in Ravenna Cemetery. MEMORIAL contributions may be made to Eagles Diabetes Research Center c/o Fruitport Eagles or Viking Scholarship Fund.
