Velma D. Lowden's Obituary
Mrs. Velma D. Lowden, age 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 11, 2022. She was born on April 21, 1936 in Muskegon to Vern and Helen (Cutter) Billington. While in high school, Velma met the love of her life, Harrison Lowden, and the two were married on November 27, 1952. Together, they shared almost 60 years of marriage before Harry passed away in 2012. Velma enjoyed spending time at the casinos and playing bingo. She and Harry often could be found taking drives around town together or going antiquing. Velma loved being around her family, most of all her grandchildren, and there were many wonderful memories made at the numerous family dinners and gatherings that were always hosted by Harry and Velma. Velma will be deeply missed by her daughters, Yvonne (Tim) Sullivan and Kristi (Brent) Burkall; grandchildren, Kevin (Angela) Sullivan, Stacy (Derek) Ross, Michael (Keely) Sullivan, Sarah (Kris Galvin) Sullivan, Jennifer (Jack) Jackson, Erica (Jason) Packard, Brooke (Brandon) DeVille and Courtney Lodholtz; 18 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Craig Campbell; sisters, Ruthann Schoonfield and Cathy (Ron) Burrows; and longtime family friend, Jim Jarembo and the Sheridan Dr. Neighborhood Family. Along with her husband, Velma was also preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy Campbell and siblings, Leo Billington, Melba Tanner, and Janice Lowden. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Oceana County Medical Care Facility and Harbor Hospice for their wonderful care Velma. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM, Friday, September 16 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Cremation & Funeral Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI, 49444. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00AM. Burial to take place at Egelston Twp.
