Vera L. Barnard's Obituary
Mrs. Vera L. Barnard, age 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 9, 2023. She was born on October 6, 1932 to parents Oliver and Agnes (Bos) Freeman in Lansing, MI. On May 26, 1953, Vera married Leonard Barnard and he preceded her in death on May 2, 2021. Vera graduated from Hackley Nursing School and worked as an RN at Muskegon General Hospital, Hackley Hospital, and several nursing homes. Vera spent countless hours tending to her flower garden and enjoyed collecting teapots, dishes, and other tokens. Vera is survived by her children, Denine Murphy, Bruce (Sue) Barnard, Scott (Beth) Barnard, and Jason (Mary) Barnard; son-in-law, Joe Collis; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren with one more on the way; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with her husband, Leonard, Vera was also preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Collis, and son, Patrick Barnard. A Family Graveside Service will be held.
