Vera Curtis' Obituary
Vera Curtis, age 89, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, January 9, 2020. She was born on May 3, 1930 to Charles and Rose (Rogers) Newbold in Flint, MI. On June 3, 1950, she married the love of her life, Harvey Curtis in Utica, MI. Together they cherished 69 years of marriage full of love and laughter. Vera was known to be a kind and generous woman. She enjoyed being outdoors and tending to her garden. She was blessed with a green thumb and had an eye for natures beauty. Vera was also a great baker; she had a specialty with using strawberries in her recipes from the garden that Harvey planted for her. In her spare time, she took to reading mystery novels. Above all things, she loved spending time with her family. She was a fun-loving and sweet spirited soul who will be missed by all that knew her. She is survived by her husband, Harvey Curtis; 2 children, Vicie Curtis and Steven (Annette) Curtis; 3 grandchildren, Abbey (Charles) Ritter, Jaclyn (Matt) Gregory and Karen (Christopher) Cross; 8 great-grandchildren, Grace, Paul, Nicholas, Ben, Anna, Madelyn, Analeigh, and Naomi; and 2 sisters, Marie Wilbanks and Lois “Jo” Curtis Bamberga and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Scott Curtis; 3 sisters, Ruby Eberts, Eva Fern and Lil Teal; 5 brothers, Robert Newbold, Orvile Newbold, Vernon Newbold, Lenard Newbold and Rodger Newbold. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at the Transformation Life Church, 2620 McLaughlin Ave, Muskegon, MI 49442 with a luncheon to follow.
