Mrs. Vera E. Johnson's Obituary
Mrs. Vera E. (Green) Johnson, age 95, of Norton Shores passed away Monday, February 6, 2012 at Seminole Shores Assisted Living Center. Vera was born September 11, 1916 in Lansing, MI to James B. and Louella (Hilliard) Morrison. In 1935, she married Norman E. Holmes in Muskegon. They lived in Norton Township and had 5 children. One, James Rex Holmes, preceded her in death. Vera married Clarence R. “Butch” Green in 1955. They were active in the Lake Harbor Grange and the TTCM “Happy Wanderers” trailer club. Vera was a charter member of the Lake Harbor United Methodist Church in Norton Shores. Butch preceded her in death in 1975. In 1979, Vera married Virgil O. Johnson and moved to Kirksville, MO. Vera and Virgil enjoyed a retired life of living in south Texas in the winter, and Kirksville in the summer. Virgil preceded her in death in 2001. SURVIVORS: Vera is survived by her children Ron (Sandy) Holmes of Lake Placid, FL, Jane (Al) Webster of Fremont, MI, Nancy (Mark) Hansen of Holton, MI, and Ric (Gail) Holmes of Morgan’s Point Resort, TX; her step-children, Len (Molly) Green of Roosevelt Park, MI, Bill (Holly) Green of Hart, MI, Tom (Jill) Green of Bothell, WA, Sally Earle of Windsor, CA, Yvonne (Mel) Loncaric of St. Louis, MO, and Virginia (Ray) Craig of Newcastle, WY; 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and numerous step grand and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two step-children, Eleanor Flemming and Jerry Johnson. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the employees of the Seminole Shores Assisted Living Center for their kindness, dedication and care during the 2 years Vera lived there. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Lake Harbor United Methodist Church, 4861 S. Henry St., Muskegon, MI 49441 with Rev. Mark R. Erbes officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at The Lee Chapel,
6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Lake Harbor United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
