Vermaine "Vern" Mogck's Obituary
Vermaine “Vern” Mogck, age 93, met his Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 24, 2023, in Muskegon. He was born on March 23, 1930 it Scotland, SD raised by Gottlieb and Freida (Bauder) Mogck on their family farm. He made his way to Michigan in the 1950’s and has called it home ever since. He was a dedicated employee of Jackson, Inc. where he worked as a machinist, building the hydro pumps for aircraft carriers. He retired in 2014. Vern also spent numerous years working as a hog farmer as well. On January 7, 1951, he married the love of his life, Edna Ulmer in South Dakota. Together they cherished 70 years of love and endless laughter. Vern was a faithful servant of his Lord and a longtime member of Calvary Church. He was also a longtime board member at Muskegon Right to Life. He loved spending time in his yard, taking pride in keeping it in pristine condition. He and Edna spent 20 years breeding and raising miniature pinschers. They also enjoyed traveling and making memories in their Amyway business which they dedicated 20 years to, reaching the Emerald level. Vern was a loving man whose radiant smile will be missed by the many who knew him. He is survived by his son, Kelly (Shelley) Mogck; three grandchildren, Tracy (Mark Stille) Mogck, Danielle (Ryan) Love and Ashley (Chris) Hathaway; six great-grandchildren, Nikki Stille, Drake Plude, Kirin Love, Orion Love, Gabriel Hathaway and Isaac Hathaway; and brother, Darrel (Jeanne) Mogck. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edna Mogck; daughter, Mariette Mogck; son, Robin Mogck; and sister, Alice (Jim) Melgaard. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Church, 213 W. Oak St., Fruitport Charter Twp., MI 49415 with visitation one-hour prior. A Burial will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Holland, MI. Memorial Contributions in Vern’s honor can be directed to Muskegon Right to Life.
