Verna C. Huff's Obituary
Verna C. Huff, age 75, passed away Saturday evening, June 21, 2008, at the VNS Hospice House. Verna was born February 4, 1933 to Emil and Ella (Grauman) Patow in Manfred, North Dakota. She married Richard Huff in 1953. She was 33 years old when he died leaving her a widow with 3 young boys. She was not only a mother but a father to them; never missing their baseball games, tennis meets, or wrestling matches. After the boys grew up, Verna lived in Maryland and North Carolina, working with emotionally disturbed children. Her work eventually brought her back to Muskegon, which is where she settled in 1986. It was here that she got in touch with her spiritual side; becoming a 2nd degree Reiki healer and Tarot card reader. She leaves behind her sons, Steve (Joan) Huff of Fairfield, CT, Jeff (Jean) Huff of Fenwick, MI, and Jim (Martha) Huff of Lynchburg, VA; her special niece, Linda (Oakes) Scott; grandchildren, Christopher, Kellie, Anne, Ellen, and Morgan; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Brennan and Connor; a brother, Gerald (Sharon) Patow of Brea, CA; 2 sisters, Connie (Richard) Harker of Muskegon and Ardis Larson of Athens, GA; many nieces , nephews. Verna was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Joyce Oakes. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at the Walburn Chapel Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 3:00 PM with her pastor, Stephen Schmidt officiating. VISITATION will be held 1 hour prior to the service.
