Verna Lou Berghuis' Obituary
Mrs. Verna Lou Berghuis, age 61, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009. She was born October 16, 1947 to Arthur and Virginia (Boucher) Jourden in Muskegon and was a lifelong resident of the area. On November 17, 1967 she married Greg Berghuis. Verna was employed as a computer technician at Verizon for 30 years prior to her retirement in 2003. She was a volunteer for Mercy Health Partners and worked part-time at Ryke’s Bakery following her retirement. Verna enjoyed cooking and making wedding cakes. She also enjoyed camping and was a lifetime member of VFW #6898. She is survived by her husband, Greg; 2 brothers, Herbert (June) Jourden and Arthur (Joan) Jourden of Muskegon; mother-in-law, Juanita Berghuis, brothers-in-law, Grant (Susan) Berghuis, Theodore (Susan) Berghuis and Varney (Ruth Ann) Milner; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Verna was preceded in death by her parents. PRIVATE FAMILY SERVICES have taken place. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS in Verna’s name may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
