Vernon Langworthy's Obituary
With heavy hearts we bid farewell to Vernon “Trapper” Langworthy, whose adventurous spirit and love for life defined him until the very end. Trapper left behind a vast and colorful legacy.
Born in Michigan, Trapper’s life journey took him from the Great Lakes to the rugged foothills of New Mexico, where he lived as the ultimate mountain man. He was a master angler and a skilled hunter. If Trapper had ever been a contestant on Alone, he would have outwitted, outlasted, and outplayed with his charm and resourcefulness, while captivating viewers with his wit and wisdom.
Trapper’s affinity for nature was matched only by his knack for finding treasures at yard sales, where he claimed to have found everything he ever needed—including his beloved girlfriend of six years. He had a green thumb, evident in his beautiful gardens, often winning first prize in fairs with his dazzling dahlias and colorful cosmos.
Throughout his life Trapper battled chronic pain with determination, undergoing numerous surgeries and health challenges. Despite this adversity, he forged his own path as an entrepreneur, embodying resilience and tenacity in everything he did.
In his later years Trapper returned to Michigan and rediscovered the joys of mushroom hunting and the magic of Lake Michigan. He crafted a bucket list with his eldest granddaughter, ensuring they shared memorable moments together—fishing, shooting, and even a bit of gambling—all of which they accomplished
Trapper will be missed by all those who shared in his adventures. His spirit lives in the stories we retell and the memories we hold dear. We celebrate a life well-lived—a life dedicated to exploring the beauty of nature and the joy of companionship.
In accordance with Trapper’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. He preferred simplicity and wished for those who knew him to celebrate his life in a joyful manner. A celebration of his unique life will be held at a later date, where friends and family can gather to honor his memories.
In the meantime and in lieu of flowers, take time to indulge in one of his favorite treats—ice cream, and take in the beauty that surrounds us. Your stories and memories of your time with him are warmly welcomed and encouraged to be shared.
