Mr. Vernon D. Pouch's Obituary
Mr. Vernon D. Pouch, age 87, passed away Monday evening, May 12, 2014. He was born March 4, 1927 in Fruitport to Vernon A. and Marie (Modeen) Pouch. Vern was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran and a member of the VFW Polar Bear Post 3734. He worked as a Greyhound bus driver for 35 years before retiring in 1983. Mr. Pouch was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake and member of the Fruitport Eagles. On November 25, 1946 he married the former Jean A. Glasen in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on August 15, 2012. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Ron (Terri) Pouch, Nick (Janelle Curry) Pouch, Evelyn (Robert) Thompson; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marylin (Charles) VanHall; sister-in-law, Marcella Pouch; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Vernon W. Pouch and Frank Pouch; daughter, Marylin Jean Pouch; and a brother, Ronald Pouch. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will take place 11:00 AM Monday, May 19, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake with the Rev. Fr. Daniel R. DePew presiding. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in Fruitport Cemetery. MEMORIALS to the American Cancer Society will be appreciated.
