Vicki L. Ferrier's Obituary
Vicki L. Ferrier, age 71, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023, after many years of fighting and conquering numerous illnesses. She was born on March 4, 1952, to Gerald DeYoung and Beverly Berry in Muskegon, MI. Vicki was a bright woman and dedicated many years to her education, she graduated from Fruitport High School class of 1970, and then continued on to receive her master’s degree in law from McNeese State University in Louisiana. She was also a proud U.S. Army veteran. She was awarded 100% service-related disability status. She married Joseph A. Ferrier, Sr. on February 14, 2017, on Green Key Beach between palm trees on the Gulf of Florida. Vicki loved all things glamorous; she took pride in getting dolled up and always dressed with style. Even when she dealt with her blindness, her radiant smile never failed to light up a room. She loved to shop and looking for the very best gifts for others mostly. She was a strong-willed woman, never feeling sorry for herself or the challenges she endured. Vicki was always a spontaneous woman who loved to travel and experience new adventures. You could usually find her relaxing and soaking up the sun. Above all she truly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, wonderful mother, amazing aunt and doting grand and great-grandma. Her vivacious and tender-loving spirit will genuinely be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Ferrier, Sr.; four children, Charissa (Ernie) Gibson, Chad Rosencrans, Angela Lindsley and Joseph (Jenny) Ferrier II; eight grandchildren, Alissa, Nicholas, Megan, Kurtis, Anthony, Peyton, Mattisen and Kenny; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Teresa (Jeff) Platt and Brenda (Stephen) Hill; brother, Kenneth (Angie) Sutton; step-sister, Donna Whitcomb; step-father, Lucky Berry; special friends, Marcie Carlston, Viki Montalvo, Dan Schnellinger, Rosetta Coleman and Steve Muir; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald (Edith) DeYoung; mother, Beverly Berry; two step-sisters, Denise McMillan and Dawn Tenbrink; and step-brother, Rick Huss. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1110 Dykstra Rd., North Muskegon, MI 49445. A rosary will take place at 12:00 PM with military rites taking place at 12:30 PM. A visitation with the family will be held from 5-8:00 PM on Friday, March 17, 2023, at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442.
