Vida Mae Gillette's Obituary
Vida Mae Gillette, age 84, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025 at her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Hesperia. Vida was born July 29, 1941 in Casnovia, MI to Kenneth and Ethel (Smith) Rusco. She married Raymond S. Gillette on August 27, 1969 in Muskegon, MI and he preceded her in death on August 26, 1992. Prior to retirement in 2003, Vida worked in housekeeping for 36 years at the former Muskegon General Hospital. She enjoyed knitting, reading, solving puzzles, going fishing, camping and the outdoors, shopping and garage sales and going out to eat. Survivors include 3 children, Wendy & Craig Billman, James & Laura Gillette, Brian Gillette; 8 grandchildren, Travis (Brandi) Gillette, Hunter (Trinity) Billman, Hayden (Kennedy) Gillette, Trent (Emily) Gillette, Tyler (Tessa) Gillette, Adrean Gillette, Remington Gillette, Tapanga Gillette; 1 great grandson on the way, Dallen Billman; 3 brothers, Lloyd (Esther) Rusco, Boyd (Sharon) Rusco, Duane (Pat) Rusco; 1 sister, Lois Rull; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray Gillette; and her parents, Ken and Ethel Rusco. The family wishes to offer thanks to Hospice of Michigan in providing services for her and to Sabrina Nelson and Kia Houston for all your hard work in providing services for her. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday, December 4, 2025 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442, with Visitation one hour prior to the service.
