Vincent "Vince" D. Morford's Obituary
Vincent “Vince” D. Morford of Spring Lake and White Cloud, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at his home. He was born on May 2, 1920 to Vere and Mabel (Caswell) Morford in White Cloud.
Vince graduated from White Cloud High School & Coyne Electrical Institute in Chicago. He specialized in electronics, radios, TV repair, and worked at Cook’s Appliance Store in Grand Haven in their repair shop. He also had his own repair business. Vince and all his brothers served in various branches of the military. Vince served in the Army during WWII, receiving the Purple Heart while in the South Pacific.
He was a projectionist at local theaters and was the manager of the Robbinhood & Grand Theater. Vince enjoyed repairing engines, electronic equipment, and cars. He was known as “Fix it Man” to friends & family. He enjoyed fishing & hunting with his grandfather & friends, managed & coached Little League summer baseball, loved the Tigers, and traveled with his son Charles to many sporting events, from the east coast to the west.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; 3 sons: V. Bruce Morford of Oakley, CA, Charles Morford of Grand Haven, & James Morford of Whitehall; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Kenneth Morford of Jenison, MI, Wayne Morford of Kentwood, MI; & numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, and a brother, Charles Morford.
The Funeral Service for Vince will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with The Very Rev. Jared C. Cramer officiating. Military rites will be provided by the VFW Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post #2326 Honor Guard. Friends may meet the family from 4PM - 8PM on Friday, December 2nd at the funeral home in Grand Haven. Interment will be in White Cloud Cemetery. Memorial contributions in honor of Vince may be given to Idema Mission and Outreach Fund.
