Mrs. Viola M. Mattson's Obituary
Mrs. Viola M. Mattson, age 90, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 in Muskegon. She was born in Muskegon on November 30, 1924 to Orson and Winifred (Doctor) Elwell. Viola was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed reading. On July 3, 1943, Viola married Carl R. “Bob” Mattson in Muskegon and he preceded her in death in 2007. She is survived by two sons, Gerald “Jerry” (Julie) Mattson and John (Kristy) Mattson; one daughter-in-law, Suzanne Mattson; two grandsons, Brad (Tatiana) Mattson and Chuck (Gemmie) Mattson and four great-granddaughters. In addition to her husband, Viola was preceded in death by one son, James Mattson; her parents; two brothers, Gerald Elwell and Richard Elwell and two sisters, Kathleen Johnson and Alice Deater. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Pastor Marcy Miller officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to her service. MEMORIALS to Harbor Hospice or Samuel Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
