Viola Nettie Knoll's Obituary
Mrs. Viola N. Knoll, age 97, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Hillcrest Nursing Home. She was born February 2, 1914 in Chicago, IL to Charles and Mary (Rutkowski) Kowitz. She moved to Muskegon as a young child. She was married to Garland Parrish and later married Gerald E. Knoll in Muskegon. He preceded her in death on August 4, 1977. Viola was employed as Head Cashier at Sears Roebuck for 25 years until retiring in 1977. She was a member of Laketon Bethel Reformed Church and was a willing volunteer for many church functions. She is survived by her children, Judy (Michael) Cox and Howard Parrish; her step-children, Jerry Knoll, Jackie (Les) McLain and Judy (Tom) Mackey; a sister, Anna Kowitz; her nephews, Don (Bonnie) Kowitz and John (Eloise) Bellman; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert and John Kowitz and a sister, Mary Ann Bellman. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m.at Laketon Bethel Reformed Church, 1568 W. Giles Rd., North Muskegon with Rev. Dr. Sherwin Brantsen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest in Laketon Twp. Cemetery. Those desiring an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Laketon Bethel Reformed Church.
