Violet Korecki's Obituary
Mrs. Violet Korecki, age 90, of Ferrysburg, passed away Saturday, February 29, 2020. She died peacefully, visited and surrounded by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ann Danzo and great grandson, Gabriel Randel. She is survived by three daughters: Karen (Bernard) Munson of Grand Haven, Patricia (Richard) Howard of Norton Shores, and Jayne (Jan) Reed of Indianapolis; four sons: Rev. David (Christine) Korecki of Mesa, AZ, James (Gina) Korecki of Woodbridge, VA, Tom (Doug Pfaff) Korecki of Indianapolis, and Steven (Stacey) Korecki of Grand Haven; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; sister, Vita Fraser; nieces and nephews She is also survived by close friends: Barb Botbyl, Judi Swanson, and Mary Gray along with several grand puppies and kittens.
She was born February 13, 1930 in Lansing to Nicholas and Carmela (Di Dio) Danzo. On August 30, 1952 she married W. James Korecki at St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral in Lansing. For the first 22 years of marriage as a military wife, Violet raised her own army of seven children as they dutifully traveled the world on assignment. Together for 58 years they devoted their life to family, friends and church. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2010.
Violet was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake, where she was active in the church and school programs and activities. She volunteered throughout her life to include efforts for the Red Cross, as a Scout leader, Catechism teacher, Officer Wives’ Club member, as well as frequently working the Ferrysburg election polls. She enjoyed reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, oil painting, Mahjong, listening to music and gardening. True to her Italian heritage, food was the epicenter of family gatherings and traditions. Violet is remembered for her sweet and loving nature, kind heart, patience, and playful sense of humor. She made a huge impression on those she met. Open, sincere and welcoming, she was a shining example of a loving mother to all. She will be deeply missed by those who had the joy of knowing her. She loved her family and friends dearly, leaving a legacy of unconditional love.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 PM Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake with Rev. David Gross officiating, Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service at church. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Township Cemetery.
