Violet E. Janes' Obituary
Violet E. Janes, age 88, passed away Sunday morning at Sanctuary at McAuley, following a long illness. She was born in Muskegon on December 17, 1922 to Arthur and Ada (Tyler) Johnson. Violet married Mr. Francis A. Janes in Muskegon on February 14, 1941 and he preceded her in death on May 3, 1993. Mrs. Janes was employed in the meat department at the Meijer store on Norton Ave. for twenty years and was a former member of the Fruitport Congregational Church and Grand Haven VFW Auxiliary. In earlier years, Violet was a volunteer crossing guard at Hile School, was active in the P.T.A. and was a former Girl Scout leader. She is survived by: three daughters, Sandra (Jack Flanders) Tate of Sierra Vista, AZ, Pamela Patterson of Muskegon and Linda Copeland of Allendale, MI; 7 grandchildren, Tammy, Shelly, Tracy, Christopher, Keith, Blair and Cory; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Theodore (Marie) Johnson; two sisters, Ardis (Ed) Schmidt and Ione (Donald) Sheridan; sister-in-law, Linda Johnson; and brother-in-law, Donald Schippers. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Timothy Johnson and sister, Patsy Schippers.
