Violet R. Smith's Obituary
Mrs. Violet R. Smith, age 80, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2009 in Manistee, MI. She was born November 3, 1928 in Muskegon to Jonas H. and Ruth (Nelson) Sanders, and resided in the area all of her life. On June 21, 1947 she married Delmo ”Jigg” Smith, and he preceded her in death on July 6, 2004. SURVIVORS include 5 children, Allen (Karen) Smith of Fruitport, Emmett (Marty) Smith of Custer, Everett (Mary Jo) Smith of Ludington, Kevin (Diane) Smith of North Muskegon, and Bonnie (Don) Schmidt of Grand Haven; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; mother, Ruth Sanders of Ludington; 2 sisters, Carla (Russell) Gilbert of McBain Sandra Stakenas of Freesoil; and brother, Bruce Sanders of Scottville. Violet was also preceded in death by her father, Jonas Sanders and sister, Ella Mae. The MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 11 AM Friday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 with nephew, Rev. Jeff Stakenas officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan will be appreciated.
