Most people have an uncle or more. But I had a very wonderfully special uncle in my Uncle Virgil. For starters, I was born on his birthday, which was something I've cherished more and more over the years. The story goes that I may have ruined Uncle Virgil's birthday party for my parents, but who remembers for sure as stories tend to grow over the years.
Being 'Birthday Buddies' reminds me of a flowery pink and white porcelain heart he and Aunt Barb gave me years ago that had a lid. I kept small pieces of jewelry in that and it still has a prominent place on my dresser to this day.
Time stops for no one, they say, but the precious memories made over the years will never leave.
Uncle Virgil, your journey is done and now you can truly say:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 ESV. I will miss you dearly.
