Virgil Edward Thompson's Obituary
Virgil Thompson, age 56, of Muskegon passed away unexpectedly on September 5, 2025, in Muskegon, MI. Virgil was born in Muskegon to George and Rosemary (Akins) Thompson on May 15, 1969. He was a 1987 graduate of Muskegon Heights. He married the love of his life, Christina (VanderMolen) Thompson on May 20, 2011, in Muskegon. He was a Corrections Officer for Brooks Correctional Facility for 27 years and he was a proud Veteran of the Air Force. Virgil is preceded in death by his parents: George and Rosemary. He is survived in death by his wife: Christina Thompson, children: Danielle (Jeremy), Matthew, Amber, Mason, Andrew, Dylan; siblings: Brian, Kimberly (Clay), Jennifer and Nancy; in-laws: Jim and Cynthia VanderMolen; grandchildren: Leelynn, Zayden, Alex; great niece: Christina and great nephew: Caleb. VISITATION will be from 01:00 PM – 02:00 PM on Friday, September 12, 2025, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI. 49444. MEMORIAL SERVICE will follow at 02:00 PM with a time of refreshment following with the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Muskegon County Department of Veteran Affairs.
