Virginia I. La Nore's Obituary
Mrs. Virginia Ilene La Nore, age 88, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Friday, September 20, 2024. She was born in Hesperia, Michigan on September 19, 1936 to Clarence and Vera (Taylor) Johnson Sr. Virginia graduated from Muskegon Heights High School Adult Education in 1997 receiving her high school diploma, West Michigan Bible Institute and Lighthouse Christian College with a Bachelor of Religious Education on June 2, 2002, and from New Jersey Bible Institute with a Bachelor Degree on June 1, 2002. She was a member of Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church for 65 years, where she was active in Adult Bible Studies, Sunday School Teacher, Chair Lady over the Condolence Committee, served as an Evangelist, and sang in the Christ Temple Radio Choir. At the age of 24 years old under the leadership of Bishop William L. Burrel Sr., she was baptized in Jesus name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. Virginia could prepare an awesome fresh fruit salad. She enjoyed cooking fried chicken dinners with creamy “lump free” mashed potatoes with chicken gravy and veggies. Virginia enjoyed cooking in the church kitchen making a variety of baked goods for the bake sales. On April 10, 1955, Virginia married Marvin R. La Nore Sr. in Whitehall, Michigan and they enjoyed 69 years together as husband and wife. Marvin survives Virginia along with three daughters, Constance (Mark) Kuzma, Tammy La Nore (Robert Mundt), and Denise La Nore; five sons, Marvin (Diane) La Nore Jr., David (Bonita) La Nore, Kevin (Marcy) La Nore, Joseph La Nore (Lori Collins), and Jeremy (Christine) La Nore; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Herbert Meiner; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Timothy La Nore; daughter, Vickie La Nore; three grandchildren; sisters, Viola Cole, Hazel Snyder, Joyce Clark, Evelyn Morningstar, Natalie Westerman, Helen Mortensen, and Beverly Meiner; and one brother, Clarence Johnson Jr. VISITATION will be held from 5-7 PM Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 and one hour prior to her service at church. SERVICES will be held at 12:00 PM Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church (412 E. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49444) with Pastor, Bishop Avery Burrel officiating.
