Virgina R. Mastee's Obituary
Virginia R. Mastee, age 99, met her Heavenly Father at home on Thursday, July 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 28, 1925, to Allan and Clara (Zielinski) Worthing in Muskegon, MI which she has always called home. Virginia graduated from Muskegon Heights High School class of 1943. On October 20, 1951, she married the love of her life, Joseph Mastee in Muskegon, MI. Together they cherished 59 years full of love and laughter. He preceded her in death on June 26, 2011. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Virginia loved reading, watching her favorite shows and bird watching. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Virginia will be dearly missed. She is survived by her two children, Susan Shaneck and Donald (Carol) Mastee; two grandchildren, Thomas Shaneck and William (Ashley) Shaneck; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Rilee; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Mastee; sister, Ruthie Bussing; seven brothers-in-law; and five sisters-in-law. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. A rosary service will begin at 9:30 AM and a visitation with the family will be held from 10-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions can be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
