Virginia "Irene" McCain's Obituary
Mrs. Virginia “Irene” McCain, age 91, of Grand Haven passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 at North Ottawa Community Hospital. She was born June 8, 1921 in Grand Haven to Dewey and Hazel (Fisher) Chittenden.
Irene attends Nortonville Gospel Chapel. She served her country in the US Marine’s during WWII. She loved to travel and tend to her flowers, but most of all she loved her family.
On September 24, 1946 she married Ernest J. McCain in Tijuana, Mexico and he preceded her in death in 1990. She is survived by three daughters, Regina Morris of Spring Lake, Anita (Dave) Kamps of Grand Haven, Cindy (John) Grega of Fruitport; two sons, Merle (Ginny) McCain of Battle Creek, and John McCain of Nunica; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Earl “Dick” (Kathy) Chittenden of Spring Lake; and sister-in-law Sally Chittenden of Spring Lake; and special friend, Curtis Stone. She was preceded in death by her brother, David Chittenden; 2 great-grand children; 1 great-great-grandchild; and son-in-law, Gary Morris.
A memorial service for Irene will take place 11:00 AM Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Nortonville Gospel Chapel with Pastor Greg Lunt officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Township Cemetery.
