Virginia A. "Ginny" Mortensen's Obituary
Virginia A. “Ginny” Mortensen, age 95, passed away Tuesday morning, May 21, 2019. She was born May 16, 1924 in Scottville, MI to Walter and Catherine (Cameron) Gerbers. Muskegon became home for Ginny in the 1940’s. On June 19, 1948, she married Robert Mortensen in Ludington, MI. Together they cherished 62 years of marriage. Robert preceded her in death on December 29, 2010. She was a member of Calvary Church and a former member of The National Secretary. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Salvation Army. She is survived by her four children, Cynthia Novak, Randall Mortensen, Jennifer Simms, and Mary (Richard) Geers; nine grandchildren, Jessica (Jon) Cooper, Nichole (Chad) Mettler, Stephen Mortensen, Laura (Nathan) Kunzman, Sean (Irish) Simms, Scot Simms, Richard Ward, Krystal (Travis) Atkins, and Summer Geers; 8 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Meg Nerheim and Shirley Ruppert. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joseph Abby and son-in-law Steve Novak. A Celebration of Life in honor of Virginia Mortensen will be 12:00PM Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the Village at Park Terrace, 1350 W. Hackley Ave, Muskegon, MI 49441.
