Two summers ago I had the extreme pleasure of visiting Virginia with my friend Sandy as we made our way home to North Carolina from the Upper Peninsula. She was as I remembered from my visits with my family (the Garesche's) so many years before - vibrant, gracious and full of memories about my own mother and family. She spoke with great anticipation of a gathering of women she was to host in the next month - always involved! We went out to eat at a local restaurant that provided table-side music and strolled down a path to the lake after dinner. It was a very lovely time.
I am very sorry to hear of Virginia's passing - she added so much to her world and will be missed by many.

wanted to send a note to let you know that your mom will be missed. I loved cleaning for her and your dad. Loved when your dad would tell her to get of the soap box and continue on with something else and she would go and start another project...She loved Jeffrey when I brought him and my son Nick to help her in the gardens...She will be missed a lot. you and your family are in my prayers. I sure have missed her these past few years

Viginia was a moving force in my life and a beloved friend. She mentored me not only in the National Organization for Women but in family affairs as well. She was as fierce a parent as she was a feminist. She and Dale worked together in all their activities. She had a mind like the proverbial steel trap, and the women's movement would not be where it is today without her leadership. I'm so sorry for your loss. It's a loss to our world. Gail Trill

I am Karen Kendall's daughter Kristen. Your Mom and my Mom were life long friends. I had taken my Mom to meet your Mom for lunch not too long before my Mom passed away. I recall your Mom and daughter helping out in my Mom's yard and garden when my Mom was sick. I also remember coming to your house when us kids were younger. I remember riding on a wood horse that you had. I was so sorry to learn that you have lost your Mother. Your Mother was a vibrant, upbeat lady. She was very kind to all of us.
