Virginia Joan "Ginny" Orleskie's Obituary
Virginia Joan Orleskie, age 92, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home on September 14, 2024.
Born on August 20, 1932, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Peter and Jesse Kalinowski, Virginia spent 83 years in Michigan before making her home in Florida. A devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, Virginia cherished her family deeply and lived a life of faith and love.
Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald P. Orleskie, and her son, Philip G. Orleskie. She is survived by her son Peter (Connie) Orleskie, her daughters Linda (Bob) and Mary Thompson, and her daughter-in-law Ewa Orleskie. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-granddaughters.
A talented writer, Virginia had a passion for storytelling, poetry, and writing short stories. She was a published author and was known for her sharp wit, her boundless love of cooking, and her joy in collecting recipes. Whether sharing a home-cooked meal or engaging in long, heartfelt conversations, Virginia’s warmth and love for her family were constants throughout her life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on October 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with a one-hour visitation prior to the service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake, Michigan.
Virginia’s legacy of love, faith, and humor will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
