Virginia Elaine Reece's Obituary
Virginia Elaine Reece, age 96, passed away Thursday evening, October 24, 2024. She was born July 4, 1928, in Hesperia, MI to Emory and Elva (Potter) Ensign. Virginia graduated from Muskegon High School in 1946. On October 12, 1946, she married Howard “Russ” Reece in Muskegon, and he preceded her in death on November 26, 2018. Virginia worked for Sears for 19 years, primarily in the children’s department, prior to her retirement and was known there as “Grandma Sears”. She and Russ both attended Mears United Methodist Church and Crestwood United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, and loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. SURVIVORS include three children: Guy (Rhonda) Reece of Whitehall, Sue (Chuck) Lund of North Muskegon, Allen Reece of Grand Rapids; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Bill (Joyce) Ensign of Mears, MI; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her one-day-old son, Rory Grant Reece and by two sisters: Adabelle and Barbara. SERVICES for Virginia will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service.
