Virginia R. Sanderson's Obituary
Virginia R. Sanderson, age 91, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice. She was born September 20, 1928 in Muskegon, MI to Carl and Nina (Stuyvenberg) Linstrom and lived her entire life in the area. On September 23, 1949, she married Lynn R. “Sandy” Sanderson in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on February 24, 2006. Virginia worked for Consumer’s Power Company in the 1960’s and left to raise her family. In 1978, she began working again in customer service at GTE PhoneMart in the former Downtown Muskegon Mall and retired in 1992 after 15 years of service. Sandy and Virginia were longtime members of the former Central Lutheran Church and were very active members of the Vikings Linne Lodge #57 for many years. Virginia was also involved with the Red Hatters and TOPS. Survivors include her 3 sons, Jeff (Laura), twins Scott (Jenette) and Steve (Kim) Sanderson; 6 grandchildren, Erick, Jacob, Anna, Brendan, Kyle and Emma Sanderson; 1 brother, Russell (Jan) Linstrom; 1 sister-in-law, Mary Linstrom. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and 2 brothers, Carl and Eugene “Jack” Linstrom. The family would like to thank the staff at Christian Haven in Grand Haven and the Poppen Residence for the genuine care Virginia received. Graveside Services will be held 2:30 PM Friday, March 13, 2020 at Lakeside Cemetery (2201 Crozier Ave., Muskegon) with Rev. Dr. William J. Rudd officiating. Following the graveside service, all are invited to join the family for a luncheon at Old Boys’ Brewhouse (971 W. Savidge St., Spring Lake). In lieu of flowers, donations to the Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
