Virginia G. Shaw's Obituary
Mrs. Virginia G. Shaw, age 95, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 in Muskegon. She was born in Manistee, Michigan on April 28, 1921 to Stanley and Margaret (Mikula) Rakowski. Virginia married George Shaw on December 16, 1939 in Muskegon and lived in this area for over 85 years. She was a former lifelong member of St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Church of Muskegon. Virginia was an avid gardener and enjoyed her former card group get-togethers and cooking, but holidays and family gatherings were her greatest joy. SURVIVORS include her children, Judy (Edward) Pietila, Gerry (Sharon) Shaw and Raymond Shaw; 7 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Roger Larsen. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; daughter, Barbara Larsen; and her 2 sisters, Elsie King and Genevieve Silvis. A PRIVATE MEMORIAL GATHERING will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Virginia’s name may be directed to Hospice of Michigan. Arrangements are being handled by The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100.
