Virginia J. Walker's Obituary
Mrs. Virginia J. Walker, age 90, passed away on July 31, 2014. She was born on November 10, 1923 to Michael and Ruth (Steele) Dineen in Chicago. She was a member of First Christian Church in Dowagiac, MI. Prior to her retirement, Virginia worked for the Amersdorfer-Wiltse Insurance Agency for over 20 years. She was active in her church, enjoyed reading and belonged to a garden club and the Eastern Star. On August 16, 1947 she married Franklin T. Walker and he preceded her in death on February 24, 2003. Virginia and Frank were long time members of the Michiana Corvair Club. SURVIVORS include 2 children, Pamela (Douglas) Brown of Spring Lake, MI and Thomas Walker of Highland Village, TX; 4 grandchildren, Ryan (Amanda Young) Brown, Colin (Bethany) Brown, Alexandra Walker, Roxanne Walker; 3 great-grandchildren, Drew, Brady and Callie Brown; sister, Barbara (Dick) Sandberg and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Margaret “Peg” Michener. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 29, 2014 at First Christian Church (201 Oak St.) VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. MEMORIALS to First Christian Church would be appreciated. BURIAL will take place at Mission Hills Cemetery.
