My mother was everything to me. Being the first born child, I was definitely overprotected from everything that might prove to even be slightly risky. Even as I grew up, playing sports, every time I got knocked down, my mother had to force herself to stay in the stands or on the sidelines, to not come out and pick me up and "rescue" me. Where my father taught me how to be a man and the responsibilities that come with it, my mother taught me how to be a gentleman; How to treat people with respect and how to be sensitive to the needs and concerns of others. Her brave struggle against an illness which in most cases, causes people to survive no more than two years, unfazed her and she battled her illness for over four years. Her battle inspired me to realize that even the so called experts don't know everything and can't measure strength and will of the human spirit. I love you Mom. The lessons you taught me will serve me well throughout the remainder of my life. I hope the celebration of your life on Friday and Saturday will live up to your final wishes you left us.
