Virginia D. "Ginny" Horness' Obituary
Mrs. Virginia D. “Ginny” Horness, age 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, September 17, 2006 at a local nursing home. She was born December 5, 1916 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Milton and Lillie (Hayes) Underwood and moved to the Muskegon area in 1939. Ginny had graduated Central Bible College in 1938. She was a member of Calvary Church of Fruitport and had served as an organist and pianist for many years. Ginny also used her ministry in music at several area nursing homes over the years. On July 15, 1939, she married Bernard “Barney” Horness and he preceded her in death on January 24, 1995. Ginny was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Ginny had many interests including sacred music, gardening, camping and she was an excellent cook. SURVIVORS include her son, Ronald (Pamela) Horness of North Muskegon; 2 grandsons, Brian (Corinne Ferares) Horness and Chad (fiancée, Kelly Rose) Horness; special friends, Dolores Ankeny, Marge Klages and Marc and Ruth Johnson. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, September 21, 2006 at Calvary Church of Fruitport with Pastor Bill Rudd officiating. INTERMENT will take place at Laketon Township Cemetery. VISITATION with Ginny’s family will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210.
