Virginia L. Cooper's Obituary
Mrs. Virginia L. Cooper, age 90, died Tuesday evening, April 4, 2006, in Muskegon. She was born October 7, 1915 in Muskegon to Richard & Antoinette (DeMoor) Shannon; and had been a life resident. Virginia had been a home economics teacher at Western Michigan Christian High School for 20 years prior to her retirement in 1976; and had previously taught for 5 years at Union High School in Grand Rapids. She was a member of Unity Reformed Church and was a former member, for many years, of Central Reformed Church. She had been very active with Reformed Church Women, Cross Group, Prayer Group, Choir, Sunday School, and Project Phillip. She was also a member of the American Association of University Women. She enjoyed crafts, cooking, sewing, reading and music. Virginia married Russell “Stuart” Cooper on August 20, 1949 and he preceded her in death December 15, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Frances Mouw. SURVIVORS include her son, Kim (Sandy) Cooper of North Muskegon; 2 grandchildren, Kelly Wabeke of Grand Rapids and Trevor (Stephanie) Cooper of North Muskegon; 1 great-grandson, Carson; 1 sister, Norma Erickson of Muskegon; 2 nephews and 5 nieces. SERVICES will be 3 PM Friday at Unity Reformed Church (1521 Porter Rd.) with the Rev. Kyle DeYoung officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. VISITATION with Virginia’s family will be 6-8PM Thursday at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 1547 W.
