Virginia M. Spaniolo's Obituary
Ms. Virginia M. Spaniolo, age 86, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2005 at her home. She was born June 6, 1918 in Charlotte, MI to Vincent and Teresa (Coscarelli) Spaniolo. Virginia graduated from Charlotte High School in 1937 and subsequently worked in a family business in Charlotte. She moved to Muskegon in 1946. Prior to retirement, she worked as a sales clerk for Hardy Herpolsheimer’s Department Store. She was a member of the former St. Joseph Catholic Church in Muskegon.
Virginia loved clothes, books, movies, and travel. She enjoyed many wonderful trips, including several to Europe. She was deeply devoted to her family, especially to her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved greatly. Their photos were featured prominently throughout her home, and she took much pride in their accomplishments. For them as well as for others, she modeled a host of praiseworthy virtues: courage, enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and above all, abundant generosity.
Anyone who knew Virginia knew her legendary capacity for hard work and the loving importance she placed on every family event. She was always there to brighten each family celebration, be it a graduation, a marriage or a special birthday – regardless of distance. No one ever did her a favor or kindness and came out a loser. With Virginia, you always received far more than you gave.
Survivors include 1 brother, James (Josephine) Spaniolo of Holt, MI; 1 sister-in-law, Eleanor Spaniolo of South Bend, IN; and many special nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind two very special friends, Ms. Jackie Balcom and Mrs. Clarisse Harris. She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, John, Charles, Peter, Robert, Michael and Victor Spaniolo, sister, Helena Spaniolo, niece Anna Mae Spaniolo, nephews Vincent Spaniolo and Richard W. Lamkin, and great-niece Diane Lamkin. THE FUNERAL LITURGY will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, May 7, 2005 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Michael P. Olson presiding.
