Virginia "Veatrice" Greer's Obituary
Mrs. Virginia “Veatrice” Greer, age 89, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2006. She was born September 12, 1916 in Camden, TN, to Edward and Rosie (Presson) McMurtry and lived in the Muskegon area since 1951. On April 27, 1935, she married Finis A. Greer in Big Sandy, TN and he preceded her in death on December 2, 1981. She enjoyed crocheting and word search puzzles. Veatrice was a member of Muskegon Apostolic Tabernacle where she was active with the Ladies Auxiliary, Young at Hearts Group and served as a pianist. SURVIVORS include her children, Retha (Donald) West of Florence, SC, Virginia (James) Murray of Rockwall, TX, Elton (Sue) Greer of Kokomo, IN, and Delton (Sharen) Greer of Alexandria, IN; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at Muskegon Apostolic Tabernacle (1875 Hudson St.) with the Rev. Frank Zenobia III officiating. INTERMENT will follow at Lakeside Cemetery. VISITATION with Veatrice’s family will be 5-8 PM Tuesday at the Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210.
