Mrs. Vivian Marie Goosen's Obituary
Mrs. Vivian Marie Goosen, age 95, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014 in Muskegon. She was born in Sitka, MI on October 21, 1918 to George E. and Minnie (Anderson) Matthews. After graduating from Fremont High School, Vivian received her cosmetology license and worked as a beautician before starting a family and raising her four daughters. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word searches and activity time at Chestnut Fields, especially BINGO. On November 26, 1938, Vivian married Richard Henry Goosen and he preceded her in death on April 8, 1999. She is survived by her four daughters, Sharon (Ray) Olson, Darlene Goosen, Gloria (Charles) Alstrom and Terri (Gary) Linihan; 8 grandchildren, Ray (Susan) Olson, Joan (Paul) Hill, Mark (Kathy) Olson, Karen Olson, Adam Overheul, Alyssa Overheul, Cody DeVecht and Nick Linihan and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harvey and Charles Matthews and two sisters, Margaret Monette and Mary “June” Brezinski. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 12:00 PM Saturday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Rev. Gerald Hagans officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. MEMORIALS may be made to Chestnut Fields Building One Activity Fund.
