Vivian L. Wahr's Obituary
Vivian Loraine Wahr, age 101, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. She was born in Fountain, MI, on July 19, 1924, to Gerald and Ila (Heise) Stewart. On December 6, 1941, she married Melvin Wahr, and they spent 68 wonderful years building their family together until he preceded her in death in 2009. Vivian’s faith was deeply important to her; she read her Bible frequently and did her best to lead others to Christ. She faithfully attended many churches over the years, including Forest Home Reformed Church, Orchard View Congregational Church, McGraft Church, and Hope Reformed Church. Vivian loved to cook, bake, and host family events at her home. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Vivian was a loving, gentle woman who never had a bad word to say about anyone and always made sure that the needs of everyone around her were met.
Vivian will be lovingly remembered by two children: Rev Gerald (Gloria) Wahr and Rhonda (Randy) Crawford; son in-law, Gordon VanDuinen; 10 grandchildren: Gina (Evan) Holcomb, Jayne (Dan) Kritschgau, John (Tracy) Crawford, Amanda (John) Oblak, Nikolaus (Jamie) Crawford, Leiya (Jason) Chronister, Nathan (Marcie) VanDuinen, Erik (Dani) Crawford, Gregory “Michael” Wahr, and Gerald “Dante” Wahr; 27 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Ila Stewart; husband, Melvin Wahr; daughter, Marjorie VanDuinen; and all four of her siblings: Richard (Bertha) Stewart, Betty (Robert) Rahn, Beverly (Richard) Hansen, and Geraldine (Richard) Slawinski.
A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held for Vivian at 2:30 PM on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI, 49444, with VISITATION taking place from 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM.
