Walker C. Hubbell's Obituary
Mr. Walker C. Hubbell, age 99, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2010 in Muskegon. He was born in Aldena, WI on July 28, 1911 to Calvin B. and Mary Ann (Moran) Hubbell and had moved to Kingsley, MI as a child. He then worked in Detroit before settling in Muskegon. Mr. Hubbell served in the United States Army – 222nd Infantry during WWII. He had been employed by Teledyne Continental Motors as a mechanic for 19 ½ years before retiring in 1972. Mr. Hubbell was an active member of Muskegon Church of the Brethren where he served on many church boards and was involved with outdoor maintenance. He enjoyed traveling with his wife. On December 13, 1935, Walker married the former Mildred “Midge” Guy in Detroit and she preceded him in death on July 8, 1994. He is survived by one brother, Paul (Jane) Hubbell of Muskegon and one sister, Ethelyn (Robert) Anderson of Battle Creek. In addition to his wife, Walker was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Percy, Harry, Gordon and Walter and 2 sisters, Irma and Lois. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Friday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Rev. William E. Naill, Sr. officiating. VISITATION will be from 6-8 PM Thursday. INTERMENT will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. MEMORIALS in Mr. Hubbell’s name may be made to Muskegon Church of the Brethren.
