Wallace G. "Jack" Irmscher's Obituary
Mr. Wallace G. ‘Jack’ Irmscher, 92, died Sunday, June 14, 2015. Born January 22, 1923 in Detroit to George W. and Emsie (Petsch) Irmscher, the family moved for a brief period to Fort Wayne, Indiana. Upon returning to Detroit, Jack became an avid sports enthusiast and a life-long supporter of Detroit sports teams. After graduating from Purdue University with a Civil Engineering degree, he served as an officer in the Pacific Theater and China during WWII. Following his discharge, he began a career in the cement manufacturing industry as a technical service engineer. Over the next 50 years he successfully led several cement companies and was highly respected and admired by members of his industry. As a devout Lutheran, Jack always found time for God and since 2000, worshipped weekly at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1206 Whitehall Rd., Muskegon, MI 49445. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mimi (Perault); daughter, Shawn (Brad) Meinhardt, their daughter, Callie; son, Douglas and his children, Emelia and Jackson, daughter-in-law, Katherine Brown, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by daughter Terrill (Terry) in 1977. Of all of his accomplishments, he was most proud of his children and grandchildren. Jack had a special relationship with Mercy VNS Hospice during the last year of his life. They were not only caretakers, they were compassionate and dear friends. The family also has deep appreciation for the staff of Day Break for being in his life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Scleroderma Foundation Michigan Chapter, 23999 Telegraph Rd., Southfield, MI 48033 or to First Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St.., 231-798-1100 is assisting the family. We will miss you and cherish the memories of cottage time. Schlafen mit den Engelin, Jack.
