Mr. Wallace “Wally” W. Obits, age 92, passed away on May 29, 2020 in Spring Lake, MI. He was born in rural Fremont on Labor Day, September 5, 1927 to Fred and Nettie (Platt) Obits and resided most of his life in this area. Wallace Read Obituary
I just learned of Mr. Obits' passing. I'm very sorry for your loss. I had many nice conversations with him while fishing on Lloyd's Bayou in my boat and on the ice. A very nice man! My sincere sympathies to all his family. Sincerely, Bob Duer.
Wally was an energetic and contributing member of the Spring Lake community for many, many years. His passionate advocacy on behalf of nature and wetlands was boundless, and I learned much from him. His gracious presence is surely missed. My condolences to the family.
Wally was a great friend and neighbor. We moved from Grand Rapids in 1995 to our home in Spring Lake. Our house is next to Wally’s. He and Connie welcomed us and that was the start of a great friendship. I had never owned a house with underground sprinkling and I was trying to prime the pump. Wally comes over and works with me to get the system running. That interaction became a pattern. If I was doing a project Wally was there to help and over see. We fished with his son Brian and I deer hunted with him and his nephew Gary on his prized 80 near White Cloud. Wally was a founding member of Wetland Watch. He presided as president for many years. He and the organization provided support to me and the planning commission to pass the first wetland ordinance
in the area. Wally shared his prized raspberries and rhubarb with us.. I could go on and on with memories my wife Marilyn and have had with Wally. Marilyn and I will always remember Wally and celebrate the time we all shared together.

Wally and I worked together for many years. He was a great engineer and loved to solve difficult problems. He was a classic tinkerer designing and building projects his whole life. He will be sorely missed. Our prayers to his family in this time of grief.
