Wallace F. Weesies' Obituary
Mr. Wallace F. Weesies, age 85, passed away Friday evening, June 28, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 21, 1928 in Montague, MI to Harry and Trena (Schutter) Weesies; and has been a lifelong, active resident of the White Lake area. Wally has owned and operated White Lake Greenhouse and White Lake Nursery, Inc. for 59 years. He was a member of New Era Christian Reformed Church where he previously served as an Elder and Deacon. Wally had also served 12 years on the Whitehall City Council and 6 years as Whitehall Mayor. He also served several years on the Whitehall Planning Commission; and several terms as President of the White Lake Lion’s Club, where he was a 17 year member. He enjoyed woodworking, making many clocks, a boat, and “blonde” furniture. He loved being grandpa, wintering in Florida with his wife, Eleanor, from 1996 to 2010, singing with the “Singing Men of Golf Lakes”; and hunting Deer, pheasants and rabbits with his beagles, especially “Duke”. As active as he was in community affairs, traveling and hobbies, family was his greatest pleasure. On November 24, 1949 he married the former Eleanor Dykstra and she survives him along with his 3 children, Charles Jay Weesies and Kenton Mark (Virginia) Weesies of Whitehall, Ruth Ann (Bryan) Zylstra of Spring Lake; 8 grandchildren, Dexter (Amy) Weesies, Kendra (Nick) Van Andel, Laura (Chris) Bush, April (Evan) Vanderlaan, Kristen (David) Bush, Grant (Stefanie Bush) Zylstra, Jennifer (Wes) Grady and Natasha Weesies; 6 great-grandchildren Ali Mae Weesies, Bryan David Bush, Autumn Grady, Brandon Brooks, Jersey Tolan and Xavier Taylor; 3 brothers, Raymond (Myra) Weesies of Bradenton, FL, Wendell (Mary) Weesies of Grand Rapids, MI and Garry (Mary) Weesies of Whitehall; 3 sisters, Donna Veeneman of Muskegon, Mavis (Keith) Lownds of Montague and Marilyn (Roger) Breuker of Muskegon; 2 sisters-in-law, Jean Vandenberg of Muskegon, Nancy (Jeff) Jeffries of Rothbury; and by many nieces and nephews. Wally was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Herbert Weesies. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at New Era Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Greg Dyk officiating. Burial will be in Oakhurst Cemetery, Whitehall, MI. VISITATION with Wally’s family will be 3-5PM and 7-9PM Tuesday at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S.
