Wallace Marvin Genter's Obituary
Mr. Wallace Marvin Genter, age 86, passed away at his home Sunday evening, January 31, 2010. Wally was born April 19, 1923 in LaPorte, IN to Ernest and Kantisse (Eacker) Genter. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII. Wally was a member of VFW #3195. He had worked as a meat cutter at Plumb’s market for 25 years prior to his retirement in 1979. On January 4, 1946, Wallace married the former Angie TerBorg and she preceded him in death on September 26, 2008. He was a member of First Baptist Church and earlier on, a member of the former First Reformed Church of Muskegon. Wally is survived by his 2 daughters, Gloria (Andrew) VanderMolen and Wanda Genter all of Muskegon; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Michael Jones; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Angie, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Jones; foster son, James Kuipers; grandson, Aaron Jones; great-grandson, Xander White; brother, Joel; and former son-in-law, Duane Workman. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11AM Friday, February 5, 2010 at the First Baptist Church (1070 Quarterline Rd.) with Rev. Dennis Henderson officiating and Full Military Rites under the auspices of VFW #3195. VISITATION will be Thursday from 5-8 PM at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Avenue 231-726-5210. In lieu of flowers, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
