Walter J. "Joe" Baker's Obituary
Walter J. “Joe” Baker, age 84, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at home. He was born on November 9, 1938, to Murrel and Helen (Weller) Baker in Crooksville, OH. He graduated from Crooksville High School class of 1956. After graduating, Joe found his way into the crane and dredging business where he dedicated nearly 60 years before retiring from Andrie in 2009. He worked in Louisianna, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Michigan. While working in Brownsville, PA, Joe had a work accident, which led him to the love of his life, Gretchen Hatfield. They had a beautiful wedding in Pennsylvania and married on November 18, 1967. Together they cherished 55 years full of love and laughter. Joe loved spending his time surrounded by his family. He will truly be missed by many. He is survived by his loving wife, Gretchen Baker; four sons, Robert J. Baker, Sean (Donella) Baker, Kirk Baker and Jace Baker; nine grandchildren, Dylan, Samuel, Annelis, Aidan, Zachary, Arabella, Mitchell, Marissa and Avery; great-grandchild, Chloe; and two brothers, Wayne Baker and Jerry Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Roland Baker and Donald Baker. Per Joe’s request, no services will be held.
