Walter Louis Bessinger's Obituary
Mr. Walter Louis Bessinger, age 81, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the Heartwood Lodge Hospice Residence. He was born on November 13, 1934 in Grand Haven, Michigan to Walter P. and Mildred (DeBruyn) Bessinger. Walter was a mechanical engineer and had worked at Brunswick Corporation, Clarke Floor Machines and Knape and Vogt. At the age of 62, Walter started his own company, CAD Co-Op, and self-contracted for several large companies throughout the United States, retiring at the age of 72. He was an active member of First Christian Reformed Church where he served as Deacon. He was also a member of the Society of Mechanical Engineers. Walter enjoyed woodworking, home remodels, playing tennis and downhill skiing. Most importantly, Walter was dedicated to his family and cherished them more than anything. On April 25, 1955, Walter married the former Evonne May Smitter and she survives him along with their four children, Lois Goossen, John (Lori) Bessinger, Lora (Randy) Wagenmaker and Thomas (Jean) Bessinger; 13 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with Rev. Tom Pettinga officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to his service. Interment will take place in Lake Forest Cemetery. MEMORIALS may be made to Hospice of North Ottawa.
