Walter G. Beyer, Jr.'s Obituary
Walter G. Beyer, Jr., age 89, passed away Friday, June 14, 2024 at Christian Care Senior Living Center. He was born October 22, 1934 in Muskegon to Walter and Helen (Tinker) Beyer, Sr., and was a lifelong resident of the area. Walter was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked at Brunswick Corp for 33 years and retired as the Production Manager. On October 8, 1961, he married Sandra E. Johnson in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on January 21, 2004 after 44 years of marriage. He later married Carol LaPres in 2005. Walter was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and his faith was the foundation of his life. He played recreational baseball and loved to watch football. Walter enjoyed taking rides and spending yearly vacations in Traverse City. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Christian Care Senior Living Center for the genuine and personal care that Walter received during his years as a resident. Survivors include 3 daughters, Tracy L. (Scott) Cox, Kathie E. (Joe) Gauthier, Jennifer (Erik) Beyer-Leek; 8 grandchildren, Justin Gauthier, Aaron (Jackie Miller) Cox, Eathen (Alejandra) Gauthier, Kadie Cox, Tyler Dorman, Shane (Lana) Leek, Karsen Leek, Evan (Haley) Leek; 2 great-granddaughters, Isabella Henderson-Gauthier, Vivian Gauthier; his sister, Beverly Ritter; and former spouse, Carol LaPres and her loving children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra E. Beyer and his parents. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at St. Mark Lutheran Church (4475 Henry Street, Norton Shores, MI 49441) with Pastor Scott Faith officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Norton Cemetery.
